Vacant Units

Right now there are over 40,000 of needlessly vacant, rent-stabilized units sitting empty.
The current rent laws make it impossible to rent them. Here are a few examples of why:

North Manhattan

This two-bedroom in Washington Heights has been vacant for almost two years. The previous tenant lived in the apartment for more than 30 years and never allowed the property owner access to the unit.

Northwest Queens

Astoria is booming! And this 2 BR, five minutes walk from the subway and a bunch of trendy restaurants has just become available after a tenant of 34 years left. The only problem is that it needs some work.

Central Brooklyn

This ground-floor 2 bedroom apartment in Central Brooklyn is minutes aways from Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Museum and several subway lines.

East Village

Minutes walk to Tompkins Square Park, Union Square and loads of restaurants and bars. There is only one problem. The apartment is not liveable in the current condition.
